FW800 Powermac MDD - will it run OS9?
    I've got a dual 1.25GHz MDD G4 with FW800

A friend of mine tells me it will not run OS9, is this true?

    Thanks for your help

I have a link on my Powerbook at home that shows a list of all computers that can run OS 9. I'll be home in about 2 hours, I'll post it up for you.
    I try to Command+Shift+/ when I can.

According to Low End Mac this model was the first to boot only from OS X. It will run 9.2 in classic mode but it will not boot from it. Here's the page: http://lowendmac.com/ppc/g4-142.html.

Yes, the MDD FW800 is the only PowerMac G4 that cannot run OS 9 natively, only as Classic within OS X.

It was a bummer when I found out that mine didn't and my roommates did, bought only a quarter earlier. But I haven't had to run OS9 really :p
