I'm thinking of either going with a MBP or an iMac. I don't really need the portibility too much, it'd be nice but it's not necessary. However, the iMac doesn't have FW800 or an express 34 card slot. I was planning on getting external hard drives and needed to be able to burn dvds from the files on there. Would an external FW400 drive be fast enough to handle burning?

Yes, a DVD burner, even at 8x, is only burning about 54mbps (Megabytes per second) and Firewire can push up to 400mbps. Plus, you'll find that Firewire 800 hard drives are still pretty expensive.
I try to Command+Shift+/ when I can. They're - Their - There | Two - Too - To | You're - Your | MAC - Mac I was on the M-F honor roll for October, 2006.
