Ok so I love my Ibook so much that I wanted to get an apple home computer. I am working on getting a G5 Imac 17in Widescreen. I found a G5 1.6 w/ 2gb ram locally for pretty cheap. I know that the Intel ones are currently where its at, but I really dont have a huge cash flow, and figure that in a year or 2 I will upgrade anyway. Here are my questions.

1. Are all 17" G5's widescreen... The pic dosent look wide
2. Will the G5 be that much faster than my Ibook G4
3. Is the Imac a good platform for photo editing and Movie editing?

Thanks guys,
-Mike

I have both an ibook G4 and iMac G5 2.1Ghz iSight. The G5 iMac blows the iBook out of the water. Way faster in every way and with every thing I do. The G5 iMac would be fine for what you want to do. The only negative is that eventually after a few years, there will be no more support. I feel that most people will go along with Jobs and make apps Universal, but already VLC has stated rather bluntly they will not support the G4/5 any longer but most other people all are going with Universal Apps. The iMac G5 is still a fine and fast system.
