iMac - Analog 5.1 on iMac

Alright, so I have these speakers that are 5.1, logitech x-530 or something, and I talked to the apple store guy, and he said that an external soundcard would work for me to hook up my speakers on an iMac. It doesnt seem that any of the ones I look at support macs.. can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks
