Hello,
I have ahe 17" intel Imac. My freind came over with his powerbook g4 which has the same specs as the mac mini. Now we were running same ames on both and to my amazement the video game on the imac was soooo choppy as in comparison to the one with on mac mini. I just thought this was an isolated case, so we tested another game, same results. Then I tested the airport extremem from same location, the mac mini was 15 times faster at downloading. Well now that I look at these results I am a bit turned off by the imac because i thought it would perform alot better and be capable of doing alot more. My imac performed equally at adobe and macromedia. p.s. I put hte mac mini in the same location of my imac for hte internet speed. Can someone shed some insight on what i should do? I am going to call apple tomorrow but i think it will be of no use. |

My imac is VERY choppy on World of Warcraft, there are known bugs with the video processing on the new duos, they will be worked out with software updates in time.
Don't trade it in yet, there's nothing wrong (hardware-wise) with your computer.. and the software glitches (drivers, i assume) will be worked out soon enough. |

well...
I think that the problem is that it's the Intel Dual Core... a lot of non-native software runs slow on the iMac. Trust me, I have a 17 inch iMac myself. Hang onto your iMac. If after software updates within six months you're still not happy, return it and get a Power PC processor-style computer. The intel core duos will take some time for compatibility. I have the same problem every once in a while (it took me forever to find a good torrent client) |
