Personally, would not only download it, but install it.

No, if for no other reason than 10.9's vastly superior memory handling. You still need a minimum of 4 GB memory no matter which of the 2 you are running.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

Not to mention the battery life improvements if you're using a mobile device.

Lots of good reasons to install 10.9, with one caveat: if you use Mail to handle your Gmail account, might want to wait for 10.9.3 (coming soon).

He has currently Mt. Lion so he doesn't have an antique and presumably he should be able to run Mav's, but he appears to be a 'one hit wonder' so we'll never know.

Sure there are. Just search "OS X Mavericks bugs" in Google and you'll find plenty of negatives. Nothing is perfect and it's possible that older versions are better for some users.

With Mavericks, you get Maps which is worth downloading for that reason alone. It works much better than anything similar out there. I use it for peeking around my neighborhood in search of new trails (I live in the countryside).

Maps is another great feature of Mavericks, it's true. I love looking at a big map and then sending it to my iPhone.

Assuming you get proper directions and have proper representations:

Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 9.04.32 AM.png

Helsinki's railway station is represented as a park.

Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 8.59.59 AM.png

Areas of Switzerland get all kinds of colour patterns on satellite view.

Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 8.56.20 AM.png

Which is better than the 1910's greyscale that Croatia gets.

Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 8.55.52 AM.png

Don't forget Niagara Falls which has more falling than just the water.

Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 9.15.41 AM.png

Maybe I could fly out to Niagara Falls through Mount Pleasant Airport in the Falklands...if only I knew where the roads were.

I see you're an adventurous man. Well done.
