[COLOR=DarkSlateBlue]Hello, this is my first post and my first mac. A friend of mine gave me a nice g3 from a graphics firm its got a 450mhz processer and 640m of ram. here is were its gets all messed up, im trying to install OSX 10.4 and it wont boot from the cd cause the PRAM battery is dead so i baught a new battery( the radioshack one) and after switching the battery and resetting/seating the ram it boots normal then to a screen asking somthing like "type boot to continue" but at this point the keyboard wont type. If I switch back to the old dead battery os 9.4 boots up fine.
I would like to upgrade to osx 10.4 along with a new seagate 200gb hardrive I baught what steps/order do i need to do this in to be sucessful?????. thanks, Clemens. |

hi and welcome to the board!
You g3 can't tecincally run tiger nativly. You need to install a patch program called Xpostfasco first. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/osx-center/ secondly, you may need to update your computer's firmware as well. Also you have to install OS X on a partition 8gb or less. Boot up your computer with a OS CD and format the drive first, or OS X won't install. Good luck and enjoy your beige! I have always loved those computers, and feel that they are very upgradable. check out http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems.html for more links and useful information about your mac.
