    Specs:
    2011 13" MBP 2.3ghz, 8gig ram, OS 10.7.5
You may want to upgrade your computers ram to 16gig...but unfortunately...the official max. ram for this computer model is 4gig (the amount already installed).

Unofficially it can be upgraded to 6gig. But this upgrade is sort of expensive for an older computer...at about $134 dollars.

    Specs:
    27" iMac i5, 3.2 GHz, iPad 3, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6+, 3 iPods, Yosemite
According to Mactracker, you have a early 2008 iMac 24". Memory specs:

Maximum Memory 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots 2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

As you can see, you can only increase memory to 6 GB. Your iMac only has 2 memory slots which means = 1 x 4 GB + 1 x 2 GB for a total of 6 GB.

Thread moved to better location (Apple Desktops)...not an "OS X Operating System" topic. Thanks for understanding.
