This thing is pretty nice. Overall its in pretty good shape as well. I just installed snow leopard on it instead of lion since it only has 1gb of ram. I may go and buy more for it sometime in the near future. So, my question is, do you guys think it is worth going to lion on a 17" iMac 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo with (future) 2GB of RAM? Or should I just stay with Snow Leopard. One thing that I really care about although it may not be too significant is the full screen thing in lion. I use that everyday on my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion on it. So is it worth doing the upgrade or will it be too slow anyway? Thanks!

I would stick with Snow Leopard especially if you have older apps and apps that are PPC coded. Snow Leopard will also be faster on the iMac. Max out the memory if you can.

Mountain Lion will not run on your iMac so as chscag suggests stick with Snow Leopard. It will handle 2GB of memory which would see an improvement.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
