    Specs:
    Late 2013 27" iMac, iPad 3, iPhone 6s+, iPhone 6+, 3 iPods, El Capitan
The no chime sound when booting up is a bad sign. It usually indicates a problem with the logic board. Since the machine is a 2007 model, it might be time to invest in a new one.

    Specs:
    Imac 27" Retina 5K, 512GB Flash Storage, 3.3Ghz, 16GB memory, OS X.11.5.
Several contributing factors such as age, dust, overheating and failing capacitors.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I started to notice that it was taking longer to wake from sleep, a usb port was not always working, and it could not reach the max display resolution for my display. i am going to get it checked out. are these signs of a logic board failure, so in the future i can tell. Thank you

Make sure you get an estimate of how much it will cost to check it out. A machine that old may not be worth having it diagnosed much less repaired. If you can get it checked out for free, go ahead and do it.
