I have the mac mini 1.42ghz with 80gig hdd, (originally had 256ram as it said on box). Bought it used from a member on this board. its been upgraded to 512 pc2700 ram, im lookin on www.macsolutions.com and they are selling pc3200 ram. Was this ram on the mac upgraded incorrectly? i didnt know the faster ram would work in the mini. Anyone have any exact specs on what can be put in the mini and how much it can hold? Found a really good deal for a 1gb chip for $89 PC3200 though.

i just found this out
"Memory is specified as PC2700 (333MHz) DDR SDRAM. PC3200 memory also works but offers no extra benefit. The Mini's internal bus speed is 167 MHz, and there's a standard Level 2 cache of 512 KBytes on the G4 processor chip to bolster performance."

Im aware that there is only 1 memory slot too? so i would just have to get a 1gb chip to upgrade from the 512 i have installed....correct?

The Official specs for the Mini are for PC2700. You can run PC3200 just fine but it will not benefit you in anyway but will work fine.

There is ONE memory slot in the Mini, so you would need a 1GB PC2700 or PC3200 DDR Dimm. Right now New Egg has some very good prices on RAM. If I were you I would purchase PC3200 RAM. It's much easier to find.

I upgraded mine with no problems. There is a video on the net showing how to open it with a thin puddy knife.

Yes, there's only one slot. So you take out the 512MB stick, and put in the 1GB stick.
PC3200 will work, just run at PC2700 speeds. I think PC3200 are easier to find nowadays, and therefore might be cheaper.
