trash can

when i move items to the trashcan it now wants my password where as before it just let me empty the trash can any help on this

Sounds like the permissions on the Trash folder are messed up. Open up the Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and enter the following:

chmod 700 ~/.Trash/
Press enter and try again. If you're told that you don't have permissions to make this change, use sudo to make the changes:
Code:
sudo chmod 700 ~/.Trash/
Press enter, type in your password (you won't see anything but the key presses are being registered) and press enter again.
