Ivy Bridges are expected to release on April 29th, I wonder does that mean Apple already has them implemented in the next generation of Mac?

Does Intel usually sell their components first to the companies than public?

I went to Apple store today and was about to buy an iMac but it seems refresh date for iMac is due. Average cycle is 273 days according to Mac Buyer's guide, now it has been 326 days, so should I expect a refresh or update in this spring break?

Any thoughts or opinions on how long will I need to wait for the new iMac?

Also does Apple announce ahead of time before they release something? Or do they just release it and tell you on the day they release the new products?

Thank you.

This is exactly how Apple does it. We won't know exactly when or what the specs of new models will be until the day they are released.

Occasionally (like with the iPad's)...sometimes there's an official announcement/presentation before they're actually available for sale. But with computers...there's usually not as much "fanfare"...so announcement and availability are the same day.

So that means it could happen on any given day for now?

What do you think about Spring Break? Does Apple usually (intentionally) release products on holiday days?

Could happen on Tuesday...or could happen 6 months from now. No one knows till it happens.

"Spring Break" can fall at many different time's depending what college someone goes to. So Spring Break could be a WIDE range of dates!

But no...Apple usually does not usually have release dates that coincide with holidays...and if they did...I don't think that it would be Spring Break (especially due to the many different dates Spring Date can be).

I don't really remember them ever releasing new upgrades at spring break. They usually have their back to school promotion and then a few months later they would have their new refresh lineup.
