Common fan causing noise

I am wondering, which fan is the most common one to cause noise? is it the CPU fan (120mm) or are they the PSU fan?
Since they are close to each other it is a little hard to ID them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Well, I had a MDD before, and I have to say it was way too noisy for me. At first, I've changed the PSU fans, with the Verax fan kit. That made the whining noise the original fans made, but yet the main 120mm fan was too loud. So I also bought the Verax CPU fan kit, which consist of a new heatsink on which 2 Verax fans are mounted, with an air deflector, and a quieter 80mm fan with bracket to replace the original 120mm fan.

Those kits aren't cheap, but believe me, they make the MDD nearly as silent as a Mac mini!!

If the links go to the German page, you'll find a "Switch to English"-button on the upper right.

In an other thread of your's, I've suggested the Radeon 9800 (which I have myself, transfered from the MDD to my dual G5). The original fan of that graphics card is very annoying, it has a high pitched whine all the time. I've replaced that fan-heatsink assembly by a Zalman kit. Again, very silent, but you loose one PCI slot in the G5. I don't know though if it would fit in the MDD, as I haven't tried it.

The MDD is one of the loudest Macs, and making it silent is possible, though not cheap.
