Trying to figure out why i cannot go througha power strip, or if there is low wattage in my new apt.
one outlet works fine w/ a strip. my gal's G3, modem, printer.
yet when I try my G4, it dies before it starts up. Had the HD checked out professionaly ( the only time I have had to take it to the shop in 5 yaers) and it's ok. No matter what outlet, I cannot get a clean full startup each time.
I also have peripherals ( who doesn't?)
And I do not want to go into the wall outlet without the power surge protector.
any ideas?
Help!

You could buy a UPS unit to supply full, clean power to your system.

Did you try plugging it into another outlet in your apartment? If it works fine, then you've eliminated the power strip as the source of the trouble.

go get a UPS from APC or something, because it sounds like a little to little volts going through your PC, and therefore shuts it down.

yes, I also reccomend APC. Very reliable, have had mine for 4 years and my system is just fine.
