Im getting no signal for my monitor and it is not the monitor. I was given an 8600 tower and another powermac. Can I fix it myself using parts from these other boxes?

I'm pretty sure the motherboard and power supply are unique to that model. Graphics hardware is soldered to the motherboard. Did you get either of those two parts?

It could be the graphics card, but you will have to find an old PCI card for that model to test if its just the onboard video that's the problem. I'll have a look in the attic at an old 9600 to see if its got a graphics card in it.
