IMAC RESTORE & os 9

Hello.
I have a flatscreen imac but do not have any restore disks.... someone walked off with them!!!. I can install os x .1 but not os 9.1.
DVD needs original software I think to run.

Will os x .2 and os 9.2 work and will this (or later os) restore my imac so it is useable.
