MacAddict. is on a distinguished road
Mac Specs: MacBook Pro 2011 2.4GHZ 4GB Ram 500GB HD

I have an iMac 20 inch intel core 2 duo and according to "About this mac" it says max ram is 3 GB. But according to MacTracker it says Maximum RAM 3.0 GB 4.0 GB can be installed, only 3.0 GB will be addressed. So dose this mean i should order 3 GB memory and play it safe, or should I go and order 4 GB ram?

So far I've found MacTracker to be accurate. My 2011 mbp is running 16GB's of RAM.. Apple says 8GB max.

You COULD install 4GB, but in all actuality about 3.25GB of ram would be utilized by the computer. Therefore you're paying for an extra gig of ram, when you're really only getting an extra 256MB.

It really depends on how much ram you need, and if that extra 256MB is a necessity. I personally would only buy 3GB.

Leave it at the 3GB and put the difference towards an SSD.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Or part of a dinner at a restaurant. The savings isn't gonna be significant. Maybe $10
