Hi,

I would like to upgrade my Late model 2009 iMac 27. Currently my specs are listed below, please suggest what I can do to upgrade the performance for my computer.

iMac 27 I7 2.8 ghz
8GB DDR3 1066 memory
1 TB hard drive

I would like to install a SSD drive into this computer, can I keep my current 1TB hard drive and install a CD-Rom mount for the SSD hard drive? Will increasing my memory to 16gb increase my performance as well?
QUOTE Thanks

You can upgrade that model to 16 GB of memory easy enough, however, I'm not sure about adding an SSD to the already existing configuration. As far as I know, there isn't a way or adapter to remove the optical drive and replace it with a hard drive as there is for the MB and MBP.

However, there may be a bracket or adapter to mount a second hard drive in that machine. Do some Googling to find out what others have done.

My mind is boggling that you think you need to improve the performance of a Core i7 computer with 8GB of RAM.

This leads me to wonder if perhaps the real problem isn't something you're doing (for example overfilling the hard drive or not properly quitting your programs).
