I need something new...but I don't wanna spend alot. I'm trying to upgrade from my 2006 or 2007 20" iMac cause it turned into a kid machine.

I have a HDTV I'd like to use as my monitor.

I would love a Mac mini, but can't find one in my price range. Does this sound good?....or what's another idea?

Also, what are some good used/refurbished apple websites?

Well a G5 is a PowerPC and a Mac Pro is an Intel machine so cannot be both. A dual 1.8 is an early G5 from around 2003, so suggest you look for an Intel machine. PowerPC cannot run Snow Leopard or Lion operating systems, and support for them will finish shortly.

Having said that if you must go that way, a 1.8DP is worth around $120.00.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

So are you saying the machine I posted doesn't exist?

Here's the pic, http://images.craigslist.org/5V15W15...ced03e177d.jpg

No, Harry is saying there is no G5 Mac Pro. A Mac Pro is Intel and has 2 DVD ROM slots in front. A G5 Dual 1.8Ghz is a older POWERMAC G5 Power PC which will run Leopard 10.5 maximum and none of the newer applications as all are now Intel.

The person who listed that in Craigslist is wrong. It's a PowerMac G5 Dual 1.8 and the date Harry gave. Was a good machine many years ago but I would not go that way today.

Can we see the whole listing and not just the picture?

Apple usually has a bunch listed on their website, but these are more recent ones. They'll still save you a few hundred if there's one that matches your spec.

Nobody in their right mind would buy a G5 to replace an Intel Mac. Of any model.
