Probably not as cheaply as you could pick one up used.

Of course, I know everything . . . I just can't remember it all at once.

It depends on what you're using as a base. Buying a case and EVERY part individually would not prove cost effective.

However, if you buy a broken machine, and repair only some of the parts, it might be worth it.

You can get a Used 1.1 2.66 dual CPU Quad core mac Pro pretty cheap in the 500-600$ range. Best bet look on Here, Craigslist, eBay. Also that's a working Computer not broken or needing any work maybe an OS reinstall but that's it.

The quad core intel clovertowns plug right into the original mac pro. You would then be at 8 cores. I will be doing over getting a new machine when I decide to upgrade it.
