IMac 2006
When I start it up the logo comes on and the icon spins.
This continues for about a minute and then the computer shuts down.
I have reset the pram and tried to start in safe mode by holding down the shift key.
Every time the results are the same.
Grey screen, tone, logo, spinning icon, shutdown after about 1-2minutes.
Please help.

Sound like the firmware is messed up. Have you tried to boot from a OS install disc.
