Hi,

i'm getting a powerbook soon (the 15" one) and yes, i'm a "switcher" but i've done my research. What i really wanna know is, can a powerbook play the sims smoothly? Does anyone have it? Does it load quickly?

thanks,
Nicole

Yes it will be fine for The Sims but you are going to want to put your Processor Performance (in Energy Saver preference)

The Sims or Sims 2?

The original plays fine on an eMac so I assume it will play better on the new PowerBooks but the the Sims 2 is a bit of a hog from what I've heard so it may have problems. The thing I assume will be quite slow is the loading because all laptops have slower hard drives than desktop machines, I find the loading time for the next level on even simple games to be noticably slower than on my iMac or my eMac (which both have 7200 RPM HDs) compared to my iBook (5400 RPM) and Mini (4200 RPM). Once the loading bit is out of the way though the games tend to play just as well.

I have a PB 17" 1.5Ghz with 1.5GB or ram, and to be honest the Sims2 doesnt play that well, I mean if you put everything on the lowest config then you should have no problem.
