I own a desktop g5 - PMG5 1.8GHZ/PCI - X/512MB/160GB
I added two additional non apple memory cards 6 years ago, now I am getting a message on hardware test:
error code
2MEM/104/4IMM4/J41
POST/0/2048DIMM6/J43
Question how do i identify which one(s) are broken? What does this message mean? Thanks

It's best to remove both modules and replace them. It looks like it might be the first bank that's acting up, but I can't be sure.

Try one at a time, in each of the slots. Maybe one combination will fail, or maybe it is just one slot. That's my case, where my iMac will only work with memory in the Dimm1 slot. If I put anything in Dimm0, I get a panic light on boot up.

Do as chscag suggests as G5 PowerMacs require matched pairs of memory.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
