i have a Apple Studio Monitor 17 in M7649 with 2 ea. usb ports on the back. How do i get them to work??? My M7649 LCD connects to my Mac G4 with what I believe is called DVI connection. In the past I have used a DVI-ADC adapter #A1006 EMC # 1918. This is the adapter with a USB line that connectors into the Mac's usb connector along with the DVI monitor connection and gives usb access to the USB ports built into the back of the LCD. I no not where this adapter ran off too (DVI-ADC adapter #A1006 EMC # 1918) is there any other way to get USB access from the Mac (G4) to the LCD????!!!!

Without that adapter, you can't bring power to the USB ports on the Studio Monitor. That's why the expensive 3 way ADC adapter connector is provided. If you need power to the ports you'll have to buy a new ADC adapter connector. Shop around for the best price. I've seen them for as low as $95.00.

Not worth the expense on an old ADC display. Had the same problem and it got slower and slower booting from discs so purchased a DVI display. No USB ports but never used them anyway. Apple have not made the adapter now for some years as ADC is finished, so whatever you get will be like 5/6 years old!

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

ant way? Sorry no idea ~ no experience with ants at all.

As a suggestion if you go the USB hub way, get a mains powered hub. Also consider putting a USB2 PCI card in the G4.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
