I've been lurking on these boards for a couple months now and must say this is quite an informative site.

I decided to join as I am looking for some positive reviews of aftermarket Ram for the iMac 27. I am shocked with Apple's ram costs and was hoping some one on this forum could point me in the right direction for an upgrade to 16gb. I have 4gb now and want to upgrade for photo editing purposes.

Thanks!

Just do a bit of reading. Any DDR3 1600 or 1333 should work fine. I picked mine up from my local MicroCenter for $34.99 each. Or you can jump on New Egg. Obviously make sure you're getting notebook RAM.

The two best places to buy memory for your iMac are either from Crucial or Other World Computing. I personally favor Other World Computing as they are Mac specialists and have superb customer support. Here is the LINK.

They also have an 800 number you can call if you have questions or would like to order by phone.

I bought 8GB of RAM for my 27 iMac i3 back in Jan for $104 shipped from OWC. It took about 5 minutes to install it.

I got mine from crucial... i upgraded the RAM in the 27" iMac from the standard 4gb to 12gb, the RAM wasnt anywhere near as expensive as apple would charge for the upgrade and it takes less than 5 minutes to fit it

iMac 27" 2.8Ghz i5 Quad, 12gb, ATI 5750 1Gb
iPad 32Gb, iPod touch 4G 32Gb
iPhone 4s 32GB, Apple TV 2G
Many other Apple bits...
