Streaming from MacPro to TV

I'm trying to stream Netflix movies to TV from MacPro. I have connected with HDMI adapter and am able to see my desktop pic on the TV but no movie. Help!

I'm trying to stream DVDs to TV from my MacPro. Connected to TV with HDMI cable. Changed TV input but all I see is my desktop pic. Movie shows on MacPro but not TV screen.
