Windows Media Viewer Woes

When I try to open WMV in the applications folder, or when I try to open a
.wmv file, WMV (version 9.0) crashes and gives me the error message that the application has unexpectedly quit. I also get the options to re-open the app, close it or report the problem to Apple. Re-opening the app fails and I've reported it to Apple.
I wonder if there's a conflict between WMV and my new Mini 1.25/512/OS 10.4.2

I'll appreciate any suggestions or illumination,

Jon

You can try repairing permissions. applications -> disk utility. What I find interesting is that the application is sending a report to Apple instead of Microsoft.

If that does not work, you might want to try and download another copy of window media player.

Or you can just ditch Windows Media Player all together and try VLC, it will play .wmv files. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738

Thanks guys,
I have already dumped WMV, redownloaded and installed it, and I've verified permissions. Pretty strange for sure. And it IS interesting that the report is sent to Apple, I guess. I never thought about the report going MS and didn't know that those reports would go anywhere but to Apple.
I've downloaded the Flip4Mac trial version. It seems to work OK and might be worth the $10 they want for the "real" working version.
I'll check out VLC too.
