Hi,
Just purchased a second hand Mac G4. taken the plunge and switched from PC for the first time. Will be delivered in a couple of days Its got 400Mhz CPU and wondered if it was easy to replace the cpu to a faster on i.e. 1gig. Also its got 256Mb Memory.......is there two slots like in a PC...allowing you to add another 256Mb to it. If so what type of memory does it use. Hope someone can help cheers guys |

There were two different G4 towers that were rated at 400 mhz. They were code-named "Yikes" and "Sawtooth." Low End Mac is an invaluable site for info on older Macs: www.lowendmac.com. The info there will give you all the specifics for each model and also info about expanding or upgrading. The CPU upgrade page is: http://lowendmac.com/ppc/g4upgrades.html.
