I have a iMac G5 also a Mac Powerbook.I have used the disk utility to repair
permissions on both recently, if I repeat the process a few minuted later
both machines come up with quite a long list, to repair again.

I am afraid that I do not know why, does anyone have an answer, is this common or do I have a fault ?.

Help would be very welcome.

Thank you.

It is more than likely just coming up with a list of stuff that it didn't repair. Check this thread.

Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
