What is your question? Are you telling us the DVD drive is defective? If it is, it needs to be replaced. Doing any kind of work on an iMac can be difficult and involved since to access the inside of the machine the entire front panel must be removed. If your iMac is covered by Apple care, then yes, take it to Apple for repair.
