How do I use a different monitor from my imac monitor?
I have a 2.16 Ghz 20 inch intel imac. So about a year ago i accidentally shot my imac screen with an airsoft gun. Ever since then its been no problem, just a nickel sized crack in the glass. today i put my computer on its face to install new memory, and when i start it up theres a water fall of color oozing from the crack and a half inch bar of lines going to the right. As i understand it new screens run about $800, so thats out of the question. My question is could I get a cheap monitor and then make it so that it is the primary display? How would I do such a thing? Thanks a lot guys

Your iMac has a mini-DVI port. I would recommend a monitor with a DVI input. you would then need a mini-DVI to DVI adapter and a DVI-D cable to connect them.
I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
