If I remember correctly Xgrid has been used to creat a super computer...
If this is the case.. will a powermac G5 using Xgrid get to share processor power with the new intel macs that are coming out...

I don't see why not... It's the same OS... Plus everything is managed over the network by a single machine running OSX Server. So I would assume the processing is done independant of the client's processor. It's basically just crunching numbers. It isn't actually running individual software.

This thread reminded me of a supposed quote made by super-computer pioneer Seymour Cray.
Upon finding out that Apple used one of his Cray XMP/28 Supercomputers for hardware design of a new Macintosh, he was alleged to have said, "That's interesting, because I'm designing the next Cray with an Apple!"

Thats actually a very interesting quote...
The reason I asked this question is becasue I am getting a powermac G5 and want to buy a couple over time to have a more powerful processing computer (a mini super computer) and since i am planning on doing this over time I know that I am going to hit a intel mac soon and did not want to hit a brick wall when this happend.

I have to start concentrating on things in school and some things at home... lol.. just some small stuff, but he knows I need it for school since I am in AMwired (morning tv show for my school) and TV 2 (both are college level classes and most of the people who graduate from my high school after taking tv courses have the knowlage of a junior in college and they take that and skip ahead) So I need a powerfull system, enough to run Final Cut Studio so hes making me work for it.
