iMac not printing to HP 5P (iMac newbie)

Imac freezing up when trying to print to USB HP 5P Laserjet printer

Running OS 8

Try trashing the desktop icon for the printer, and trashall "HP" files from the Extensions subfolder found in the System Folder on the hard drive. Restart the Mac. Empty the trash. Try to set up the printer again.
