I have an imac and photos appear as question marks but on my ibook they show fine. what gives? any ideas?

You've not given much information. Where are these photos? Are they the same photos, or different ones on the iMac and iBook? (for starters)

In general, a question mark means the computer is looking for something and can't find it.

Mac Specs: Black MacBook 2.2GHz C2D, 4GB Ram - iMac G4 700MHz, 512MB Ram

If you're using safari, reset safari. (Note this'll erase all catched pages and bookmarks) if you're using another browser, clear all the history including cookies, settings, etc. I've had this problem before and doing this fixed it immediately.
