Hey guys, just asking on here to make sure before I make a purchase.

I asked around, and was told by 2 separate people that the 1.0 to 1.42 swap is straight forward, all I have to do is swap the cards out and replace the aluminum heatsink with the copper one, and it will work just fine. Does this sound correct or is there more to it?

Thanks

PS.. would anyone here happen to have a dual 1.42 laying around with a heatsink?

Depends.

Go into Apple System Profiler 'About this Mac' and see what the System Bus Speed is. It needs to be 167MHz to run the 1.42 processors. If it is, some were 167MHz, and some not 133MHz, depending when released as there are several models, all well and good. If it is not, the the answer is no without replacing the entire logic board which is major, and costly, surgery.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

Awesome. It is 167, so it looks like I'll be buying a dual 1.42 card!

Remember to clean the processors with an alcohol swab and use a small amount of Arctic Silver or similar when seating the processors. And it is not a card but a dual procesors and a huge copper heat sink!
