So basically I plug my phone into the front USB port on my power mac g5, it gives the charging "chirp", but Itunes fails to recognize it completely. I plugged it in to one of the USB ports in the back of the computer and it recognized the Iphone just fine.
I've tried restarting my mac, restarting my Iphone, uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes, and nothing works. I plugged USB speakers into the front port and they work fine, I am perplexed. |

Your iPhone is probably drawing more power than the front USB port can handle. USB speakers (probably powered) do not draw an appreciable amount of current from the port. I'm betting that a USB printer would likewise work from the front port.
