Best OS For My iMac G3
I recently purchased an old apple iMac G3/400 DV SE. The previous owner wiped the HDD which subsequently removed the OS (Mac OS X 10.4.11). What would be the best OS to put on this machine?

    Specs:
    2011 13" MBP 2.3ghz, 8gig ram, OS 10.8.5
    10.3 or 10.4.

If you decide on 10.4...do you really want to spend close to $100 purchasing 10.4 for a 10+ year-old computer thats worth about $10-$20 dollars?

    Just something to consider,

If there was...and it was legal...I would have suggested that.

    Specs:
    Late 2015 27" iMac Retina - 3.2 i5 - 8GB - 256GB SSD - R9 M380 GPU
For a 400MHz iMac..... Definitely 10.3... 10.4 is barely ok on my 500MHz iBook with 256mb of memory....of course I intend to max my memory out to 640.

Panther should be much more affordable!

    Just DON'T buy "gray-colored" disks!

I'm not in the UK...but e-Bay is probably the best place (cheapest or otherwise)...install disks for OS 10.3 just aren't that common. You may find them on the rare occasion on Craig's List...but e-Bay is probably your best bet.

In fact...I just searched e-Bay UK...and I couldn't find any 10.3 install disks...that shows you how hard they are to find. If there aren't any on e-Bay...gonna be a tough search.

Just keep your eyes on e-Bay...they'll show up eventually.
