After numerous attempts with disk utility, I have decided to reinstall. I have already tried archived and install to preserve my numerous passwords... I am still crashing... my question is how to preserve my network, addresses, and passwords for applications(software)etc, for a complete reinstall since I can not resolve the probelm of crashing.
Another question, can I just drag and drop my prior address, mail, keychain into appropriate areas, to spare me the heartache of reinstalling or retyping.
I got a dvd burner to save everything but do not want to reinstall the culprit, of which origin I have no clue.
I am on a g4 400 mhrz, I know I need a new machine, being the hopeless mac poor ***** that I am, I'm here; but aspire to be more macking, beleive me!
Thanks in advance you /princeesses/princes of OS.

I think your problem is related to one of those settings, and the only way to solve them is going to be to freshly reenter them. For some specific stuff, writing it down might be the best way to go. Otherwise, I say toss everything.

You said you used Disk Utility, so you most likely repaired Disk Permissions from that. If you havn't, try that.

There is a maintenance program called Yasu which is great, free, and has fixed some of my problems in the past. You can download it here: http://www.jimmitchelldesigns.com/yasu.html

I have OS 10.39 and which is too early for yasu, but thanks.
I did the reinstall, and still get crashes, and while repairing/verifying permissons, I barely touched my desk and the monitor went off, It came back on but after restart, my monitor's power was on but nothing on the screen. I went away from the computer for a couple of hrs, restarted it, and viola the screen is back.
I am wondering if I need a new power surge...I have no idea what to think now..
I got dsl 2 weeks ago, but am almost sure the difficulties started a couple of days before, I have 640 mb memory.
Does this appear I might need a new computer.
All help appreciated.
