Imac freeze after sleep

My parents have a new Imac and in the morning when they try to wake the mac from sleep the mouse icon has frozen. Any ideas what is causing this?

What kind of mouse are they using and is it wired or wireless?

The batteries may be getting weak - have them put new batteries in the mouse to see if that helps. If the problem persists, tell them to switch to a wired mouse in order to test if the same thing happens. If it does, post back and we can go from there.
