OK, really - I searched a few times on this furum without a good response. I now have a good MBP 15" that is my only computer. I am considering getting an iMac for photoshop CS5 use. I know the current iMacs are great but curiosity makes me ask. When are the current iMacs due for a refresh? I know no one knows for sure but due to past update cycles and how long the current iMacs have been available - what do you think? What's your best guess?
Thanks!

As you said, no one knows. The closest thing to a "schedule" is the guesstimates on this site:

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

The typical update to the iMac line since Intel has been 8-11 months - only once at 7 months. It is now 3 months into the current line-up.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

So that means that the iMacs aren't due for a refresh for a while.

The question by the OP was how long are they in current cycle? Answer by JP-ME is correct; since July 2010. Next refresh will probably be Feb - Mar 2011. (If the current update cycle continues.)

No one is able to tell you for certain when new models are coming out until Apple actually announces a date. However, there are some sites that try to guess based on previous hardware refreshes.

A great one is the Macrumors Buying Guide:
Mac Buyer's Guide: Know When to Buy Your Mac, iPod or iPhone

The best rule of thumb is if you need a new computer and the current models meet your needs go for it. If you're not in a rush and choose to wait for the next refresh, you can do that. Either choice is ultimately up to you.

There will always be the next new version, so waiting indefinitely is often not worth it.
