New computer day. Finally replace my 7 year old borrowed powerbook notebook. got a mac mini on sunday at our local apple store. I'm using my 20" cinema display that I got with my belated G5, and the keyboard as well.

Now it is time to try to transfer my old stuff to the new machine. Slight problem. Apparently the firewire port on the mini is an 800 and the firewire port on my laptop and external drive case are firewire 400. Is there an adapter for this? What really baffles me is that the cinema display had three connectors to the G5, a firewire, USB and the DVI. When I found out the firewire from the display would not fit in the computer, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to set it up. However, the DVI-HDMI adapter seems to work, and I'm surfing. I've got the USB from the display hooked up, but don't know if I need to use it. Do I?

what also is weird, and I never thought I'd feel this way, is that I'm actually missing the keyboard from the laptop. I used to think it was less ergonomic than a regular mac usb kb until I started using one again. I had cast a jaundiced eye on the wireless kb at the apple store but now I'm beginning to rethink that. Do those work on line of sight? would I be able to put the wireless kb on my lap and still have it work?

Anyhow, I really want my old stuff on the new machine, so that is my priority at this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
QUOTE Thanks
