Is there any way to configure a 21.5" iMac with core i7 processor and 8 gigs of memory through apple?

I really want a strong processor but 27" is a little large for my tiny desk.

That's the downside of the iMacs. If you want the fastest processor you are forced to buy the larger 27". Depending on what you do on your Mac you will probably be happy with the i5 21.5 iMac. It's also upgradable to 8 gigs of RAM.

Don't get hung up on the power game. Unless you really do need the power and I mean really need it then it is just a waste. I have always over specified my computers and yet when I look back now I've rarely used that power, a total waste of money. I've come from a Quad Core Windows PC to a 2.4 C2D Mac Mini and you know what I'm not missing the power one little bit. The Mini does everything I ask it to so my advice would be to have a reasonable balance of power versus cost and I doubt you will be disappointed.

yeah - I'd agree with this as well... I'm VERY happy with my Intel Core i3 3.2 Ghz.. it's more than capable of handling anything I can throw at it now or for the foreseeable future.. you get the 21.5 in this spec as well.. might be an idea to make an appointment at your local store and have a play with them and ask them about any questions/concerns you have..

You can get the 21.5" with a 3.6 GHz i5 processor also apple only advertises the 21.5 with 8GB of ram but they can take 16GB

That's a shame....
I'm in love the iMac setup where everything is handy, quiet, sexy and neat. I bought a new iMac just 8 months ago, and it's simply not strong enough for my work. I'm running Logic Studio, so power is everything. From the other side, I really don't need a fancy graphic card with a lot of memory or a big HD (I work externally), but it looks like I will have to pay for those because that's included in the i7 package.

So where can I find a nice big desk?
QUOTE Thanks
