hey all...just recently got my hands on a 15" Imac G4 from a friend who inherited it from a house he bought...obviously its password protected and also loaded with kid friendly software...i want to do a clean install and start from scratch...i was planning on doing a warm boot and then holding down the "C" button...my question though pertains to the O/S that i should load...i have an IBook G4 running 10.3.9 and i love it but i am not sure if I should instead go with Tiger right off the bat in lieu of OS X. If anyone has any experience with this sort of upgrade or reformat and can let me know if they saw a decline in speed or issues that would maybe make this not worth it please let me know..I am very curious as to how Tiger is performing on the older model Apples...i have two IBooks and now the IMac and would rather have the updated O/S but i have gotten burned before with Windows and upgrades that killed my machines...
thanks for any help, advice or assistance. Skip |

And that iMac will be able to handle Tiger with no problems. Just do a clean install and you will be fine. :black: __________________________________________________ Posting and YOU|Forum Community Guidelines|The Apple Product Cycle|Forum Courtesy mac: a waterproof raincoat made of rubberized fabric MAC: a data communication protocol sub-layer, also known as the Media Access Control Mac: a brand name which covers several lines of personal computers designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc.

Your hardware will all work fine, and in many cases, possibly better than before. |

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help on this...i installed Tiger and it worked perfectly...prior to the install of Tiger the computer was pretty slow and appeared outdated...Tiger fixed all of that and even helped with some minor issues i was having with reading discs.
Now i am going to add some more RAM and it should be good to go. Thanks again. skip |
