Head into system preferences and check that:
1) In the sound settings group, in the sound effects tab, check what you've got selected in the "Play sound effects through" box. If your hearing it though the headphones then it should be external output or something. 2) Go into the next tab, output, and check that the output device that is selected is the same as in the previous step. Should be called built in output, or external output, or something like that. It should not be set to internal speaker. Sometimes the Mac pro doesn't correctly identify when you've got speakers or headphones plugged in the back, so you need to manually tell it where you want your sound output to go. |
