Hi, I have a powermac G4 which came with a cd-r/w drive......i removed it and installed a dvd-r / cd-r/w drive.....the new drive works fine with cd's, as did the old one, but it doesnt recognize any dvd's......do i need to download some drivers for it? I also noticed that G4's that came with the super drives, have apple dvd player installed.....i have tried to find that on the internet to download and or buy, but no luck so far.....i have also downloaded other media players, but nothing works so far.....

thanks for any advice that may be out there

You may need to reinstall the OS or a newer OS to get those drivers you speak of. Sounds like the drive works fine but the OS doesn't know what a DVD is. Strange.

Well what sort of machine are you using as there are more than a dozen different G4's, what superdrive did you install and what OS are you using? All these little things may well help us find an answer for you otherwise we are guessing.
