Help, iMac Won't Start!

iMac G4 700.

Recently installed software for Canon LiDE 30 USB, software seemed to work ok.

iMac would not awake from sleep. Had to unplug.

Now I only get a flashing folder/question mark icon on startup.

Cannot zap PRAM - only black screen until I let the keys go.

Booted into open firmware, reset PRAM (reset-nvram, reset-all). Same problem on reboot.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing you would have looked here? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440
If not - a new harddrive? I had a MacBook do the same and it needed a new harddrive. Unfortunate, but these things happen.

To mickbab:

Did you check the post date of the message you replied to? I'm sure after 5 years the OP has resolved the problem.
