Pioneer USA - DVR-K06 - Internal Slim DVD/CD Writer for Notebooks – Slot Load Incidentally, your iMac is not a G5 (PPC) but an Intel iMac. In searching OWC for optical drive replacements, only the G5 iMac is mentioned. Hmm, maybe the same optical drive works inside an Intel iMac. OWC Mercury for iMac G5 - 8X DVDRW/2.4X DL... (MG4SL8XDLK) at OWC. In what way(s) does your iMac "run really slow". There could be a number of causes, the principal being a failing hard drive. Have you run a hardware test with Disk Utility from the Install disk (I know, your internal optical drive isn't working, but from an external optical firewire drive)? In fact, the optical drive solution might be an external unit rather than trying to restore the internal one.] ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Please post your Mac (or other) specs and MacOS version in your post, your profile or your signature. It helps us to help you better. I'm leaving now to go and find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait.
