Hi all,
yesterday evening I purchased a brand new 27" Core i5 iMac.
I came home, installed it and this morning I see that if I run the command "ac -p" that the root account has been logged in for about 1080 hours! Is this normal?
I cannot believe Apple tests these things for about a month before shipping?
I also noted that the iMac was packed in this white protective sleeve (seal was already broken!), but the screen did NOT have the transparent foil that I see users taking off when unboxing (see Youtube)...
Also iLife was NOT installed, I had to do this by myself.
I'm afraid I have received a refurbished model. There is however nothing wrong with it, it's just that when you spend this amount of money you want a new one.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks!
Tom

Somehow you ended up with a misboxed return.

Return it immediately and get a new one.

Can someone explain how this command is done? I haven't heard of it before...it doesn't seem to be your typical keyboard command.

Thanks,

- Nick

I see thanks. I wasn't 100% sure if it was a "terminal" or "non-terminal" keyboard command.

Thanks again,

- Nick

p.s. It seems that this command doesn't make the "Top 50 Terminal Commands" in this article:
