Hi

I have always used safari or firefox and have always had my hotmail account simply set on the hotmail site

is there anyway I can change this to a kind of mail server using the mac mail programme like I could do with say office

Sorry my description is poor, but I am sure you all know what I mean

Thanks

This thread should help:
http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-...-push-mac.html

(As you'll read in that thread, I'd recommend ditching hotmail for something with free IMAP such as Google Mail)

Thanks

I can gladly change to google mail or so - any other suggestions?

IF I do this, how do I then going about using the standard mail programme?

The thread you sent was working except knowing what outgoing mail server I should be entering....

Cheers

I personally recommend Gmail.

As far as setting it up, here you go:

GMail is great although their POP servers have longstanding bugs that shouldn't be there, so IMAP may be the better choice depending on what you want. And if the Mail program is not suited to your personal preference (as for me), then I would recommend Postbox
or Thunderbird.

They are very similar, Postbox is a modified and glorified Thunderbird, and Thunderbird is free. I personally recommend Postbox though.

Again, this is if you don't like Mail. If you do, then by all means use it
